Divine Winds Services
Your Divine Winds engagement first involves a deep understanding of your personal quest for enlightenment. Using this knowledge and an understanding of your geography and budget, our consultants will create your individualized sanctuary.
The Interview: The interview is probably the most important part of the process.  One or more face-to-face visits are imperative to successful completion of a project of this nature.  The geographic area must be researched for availability of appropriate components for your gardens including rock, soil, artifacts, plant species and water.  The positioning of the garden is important in relationship to your home and your needs and expectations. It will be necessary to spend sufficient time with the client to determine the expectations and desires needed to personalize the creation of this space and tailor it to their spirit.  Results of the interview determine whether either client or designer will accept the project.

Geographic Considerations: Truly inspired creation develops a strong sense of sabe and wabeSabe is a sense of antiquity.  Age lends an air of stability to the garden.  Where possible, we will always use components that bear the marks of the passage of time.  Wabe concerns a sense of aesthetic correctness.  By this we mean the garden must blend with its surroundings and utilize materials that are indigenous to the area.  Wabe may be violated in the degree that one creates a ‘theme’ garden that is a replica or represents a specific, pre-existing creation.  The garden may be successfully built but it will lack wabe.  We will bring together these concepts to achieve the desired results.

Layout: There are many rules that must be adhered to when creating a truly specialized space.  They are ancient rules, and involve the placement of stone in a specified manner, gathering components for a water feature that make stone and water an actual waterfall rather than a pile of rock with water running over it. Other important elements that are considered fundamental to this style of landscaping include orientation to the compass points and seasons, directional placement of all gardens, proper respect to the concept of “Ma” and humble reverence to the ‘Trail of the Serpent’. You will have multiple types of gardens, philosophically developed by DIVINE WINDS, from which you may choose specific features that are important to you and capture your intents.  DIVINE WINDS will make recommendations based on your geographic location and site.  In doing this it is important to realize that there is no right or wrong in this process.  Each person and their choices and needs are unique and precious.  These choices are held to no other standard than being expressive of whom you truly are.

Construction: The site and materials must be gathered together.  Local contractors are used to do the actual construction but under our constant direction and supervision.  Size of project, weather and site limitations may determine length and cost of construction.

Costs: Fees, travel, accommodations and construction costs are borne by the client.
